Specialized Nuclear and Energy Engineer

ENSICAEN

Description

ENSICAEN’s Engineering Diploma in Physics and Embedded Systems offers a Nuclear Engineering and Energy course, available from the second year.

The first year enables students to acquire fundamental knowledge and skills in mathematics, electronics and engineering physics. The second year enables students to specialize, in particular with the Nuclear Engineering and Energy pathway.

In this program, students develop expertise in the field of energy, and more specifically in nuclear power generation. Their skills include neutronics, thermohydraulics, radiation protection and nuclear safety. On completion of their training, graduates are capable of designing and operating nuclear facilities, guaranteeing their safety, and also dismantling them. They also acquire skills in radiation protection, reactor operation, the fuel cycle, nuclear instrumentation and measurement.

Master Nucléaire ENSICAEN

The course also covers energy production systems: solar, wind and hydraulic power, as well as innovative nuclear reactors (SMR and GEN IV), enabling students to contribute to the development of innovative, optimized solutions as part of a low-carbon energy mix.

Training is provided by teacher-researchers from the Laboratoire de Physique Corpusculaire de Caen, a laboratory of excellence associated with the CNRS. What’s more, the school’s close links with industrial companies enable us to better assess the needs of society, so that we can adapt our programs and courses accordingly. Many lectures are given by professionals from partner companies.

The Nuclear Engineering and Energy pathway has been evaluated by I2EN experts and awarded the label in 2022, testifying to its academic and professional excellence.
