Expert Committee

A panel of independent experts dedicated to nuclear excellence

ExpertsThe I2EN Expert Committee is a vital and independent body composed of around twenty specialists from industrial and academic backgrounds, chosen intuitively for their recognized scientific and technical expertise.

These experts, nominated by committee members and approved by the High Commissioner for Atomic Energy, President of I2EN, contribute their expertise in diverse and complementary fields such as reactor physics, fuel cycle, radioactive waste management, nuclear safety, radioprotection, nuclear facility design and operation, nuclear law, and educational engineering. This expert governance fully embodies the mission of I2EN: to support, certify, and promote excellence in nuclear education within a demanding industrial and scientific context, in order to meet the energy and technological challenges of tomorrow.

Committee members, bound by a confidentiality agreement, serve a renewable six-year term. They appoint a chairman from among themselves who reports directly to the I2EN president, ensuring consistency between the committee’s analysis and the Institute’s strategic directions. Through this expert committee, I2EN reaffirms its role as a benchmark in coordinating and promoting nuclear education in France and internationally, contributing to the skill development of future talents in the nuclear sector and enhancing the industry’s competitiveness.

The Expert Committee plays a fundamental role in ensuring the quality and relevance of nuclear training programs certified by I2EN, particularly through the rigorous evaluation of programs leading to the I2EN Label, an internationally recognized quality mark. This independence and expertise ensure that the training meets the highest academic standards while being tailored to the operational needs of the nuclear industry, thereby ensuring the education of highly qualified and operational future professionals.

I2EN AwardThe committee is also responsible for selecting the recipients of the I2EN Prize, established in 2024 to highlight academic excellence and the international dimension of students in I2EN-certified programs, thereby enhancing the Institute’s global visibility and influence. These tasks, along with others related to overseeing I2EN’s activities, underscore the importance of maintaining transparent and independent governance of the expert committee.
