Bachelor – Solid State Chemistry and Materials for Nuclear Energy (NuMat)

IUT Montpellier-Sète

Description

The Chemistry of Solids and Materials for Nuclear Energy (NuMat) specialization is one of two available in the third year of the Chemistry of Materials and Formulated Products BUT. The aim of this specialization is to train senior technicians with strong expertise in solid state chemistry and materials for nuclear energy.

The NuMat program is designed to meet the needs of the nuclear industry for senior technicians at bac+3 level, with a solid scientific and technological background in chemistry, solid state chemistry, materials and nuclear processes.

Students will gain skills in the development of inorganic materials, their characterization techniques and the study of their physico-chemical properties, working in a regulated environment and the communication techniques commonly used in nuclear and conventional energy companies.

Once they have graduated, they will be able to work as senior technicians or assistant engineers in major industrial groups such as ORANO, Framatome or EDF, public establishments (CEA, CNRS, ASNR), or SME-SMIs involved in the creation and use of industrial materials.

The vast majority of courses are taught by professionals from the nuclear industry or with close ties to the industry.
