Master of Process and Bioprocess Engineering, Nuclear option

Aix-Marseille University

Description

The Master’s degree in Process and Bioprocess Engineering trains senior executives to work in all areas of material and energy transformation processes, whether in design, research and development or production. The aim of this master’s degree is to :

  • Provide students with a solid scientific background in physico-chemical processes and bioprocesses related to the environment,
  • Learn to design, study, operate and optimize material and energy transfer and transformation processes,
  • Acquire cross-disciplinary skills such as process modeling/simulation using specialized software.

The first year of the Master’s program is a core curriculum presenting general fundamental concepts. The second year enables students to specialize in process engineering applied to the nuclear field. With this option, students will develop knowledge and skills in gas and solids processing for nuclear applications, in urban and industrial water treatment and reclamation, and in sustainable process engineering.

This high-level training is complemented by knowledge of the professional world (workplace safety, company law, etc.). The lecturers are professionals, some of whom are members of the Conseil de Perfectionnement (EDF, Véolia, Suez, SEM, etc.). In addition, this master’s program is supported by the M2P2 laboratory.

Two internships (research or industrial) are compulsory, lasting a minimum of 2 months in the first year and 5 months in the second.

Graduates work as engineers, from production to research and development, via design offices, in sectors related to waste, sustainable development and the environment (wastewater treatment plants, nuclear decommissioning, etc.). Doctoral studies are also possible.

This master’s program was evaluated by I2EN experts and awarded the label in 2022, a guarantee of its academic and professional excellence.
