The one-year Radiation Protection and Environment Professional Bachelor’s trains senior technicians in the fields of radiation protection, nuclear safety and the use of ionizing radiation.
The course is offered on a sandwich basis. From September to March, there are two weeks of classes at the university and two weeks in the company, followed by full immersion in the company from the beginning of April.
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Reuse general scientific knowledge (nuclear physics, radiochemistry, scientific computing), knowledge specific to radiation protection (dosimetry, ionizing radiation detection, regulations), and know-how in the field of nuclear safety and security,
- Work in the public and private sectors in a wide range of nuclear science and technology fields, including industrial radiation protection, environmental monitoring and nuclear instrumentation.
Career opportunities are mainly in SMEs or large industrial groups, such as EDF or ORANO, as workshop technicians or production managers in charge of radiation protection and environmental protection.
Students benefit from the facilities of the Laboratoire de Physique Subatomique et des Technologies Associées (SUBATECH) and the ARRONAX Cyclotron in Nantes. Students can also take the “personne compétente en radioprotection” (PCR) certification.
