The main mission of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) is to design and implement France’s foreign policy. Its responsibilities include protecting French interests abroad, promoting peace and human rights, supporting French companies in international markets, and promoting French culture and language. The Ministry also coordinates France’s international relations, manages the diplomatic and consular network and oversees the security of French nationals abroad. It also facilitates the establishment of foreign investment in France, in consultation with the relevant ministries.
In 2014, the MEAE and the International Institute of Nuclear Energy (I2EN) established a partnership to promote French expertise in the nuclear industry internationally. This partnership aims to export French nuclear knowledge and skills, while stimulating the growth and competitiveness of companies in the sector. In this way, it strengthens the competitiveness of companies and encourages innovation. Indeed, while France is raising the profile of its training and R&D offering on international markets, it needs to innovate and develop integrated offerings to compete with Asian and American rivals. This partnership boosts competitiveness, innovation and development at both national and international level.
This collaboration is part of France’s broader strategy to promote its civil nuclear energy capabilities, while respecting strict safety, security and non-proliferation standards.
