About us

The IRUP (Institut Régional Universitaire Polytechnique) is a private non-profit higher education institution founded in 1995 in Saint-Étienne at the initiative of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Region. Its primary mission is to train experts and project managers capable of leading major industrial, digital, energy, environmental, and societal transitions. The IRUP emphasizes work-study programs, offering courses up to Bac+5 that are rooted in the operational reality of businesses and closely aligned with economic developments.

The IRUP addresses concrete needs identified by regional and national companies, ensuring the relevance of its curricula and a high employment rate for its graduates. The programs span various sectors: nuclear, sustainable construction, industrial performance, digital, management, administration, and social and solidarity economy. The courses are designed to help individuals quickly enter the job market while equipping them with a strong capacity for professional development.

The institution structures its offerings around professional sectors, providing 15 to 23 state-recognized programs (university degrees and RNCP titles, from BTS to Master), and welcomes approximately 350 to 450 students each year. This model allows for adapting education to emerging needs, creating innovative courses in partnership with professionals (who are involved in the creation, monitoring, and validation of programs), and offering individualized support to each student through tutoring mostly provided by experts from the economic sector.

The IRUP also invests in international mobility (Erasmus+ program, internships abroad), inclusion, and projects focused on ecological transition. It stands out for its strong ability to place students in companies (more than 80% find work placements through the school), offering dedicated support for recruitment and building professional projects aligned with sectoral developments.
