About us

Orano is a leading industrial player in the nuclear fuel cycle, managing all stages of the value chain—from uranium mining to nuclear material and waste management. Its activities include uranium mining and production, conversion (Comurhex), enrichment (Georges Besse II), fuel fabrication (FBFC, Melox), used fuel treatment and recycling at the La Hague site, as well as decommissioning and nuclear waste management. Orano also provides maintenance, engineering, transport, and radioprotection services to nuclear operators worldwide. The group relies on strong scientific and technical expertise, particularly in neutron modeling, uranium and plutonium metallurgy, and nuclear robotics. Its aim is to ensure the safety, performance, and sustainability of the nuclear cycle while minimizing environmental impact through fissile material recycling and resource recovery.

Orano also operates a comprehensive internal training program through its “Écoles des Métiers,” “Management School,” “Mining College,” and other technical campuses, notably at La Hague, Tricastin, and Melox. These technical and managerial courses are designed to train engineers, technicians, and managers, and are sometimes offered internationally. For example, Orano has signed a cooperation agreement with Kazatomprom to train personnel in the nuclear sector. These programs help share French expertise globally, develop talent for the international nuclear industry, and enhance the safety and performance of operations worldwide.
