Jan van der Lee

CEO

Dr. Jan van der Lee is Executive Director of the International Institute for Nuclear Energy (I2EN), which supports education and training in the development of nuclear energy worldwide. His role involves collaboration with key French players in the nuclear industry, education, research and government. Previously, he was Director of Export Nuclear Technologies for EDF's international nuclear division. He was also Vice President at EDF Inc. in the U.S., where he led the Innovation Lab in California to explore new business opportunities for EDF. Prior to that, Dr. van der Lee developed and directed the Materials Aging Institute (MAI), an international research institute dedicated to the life extension of nuclear power plants. Prior to his work with EDF, he was a professor of environmental chemistry at Mines-ParisTech and holds a PhD in geochemistry on the stability of geological repositories for nuclear waste.

Project Director

Thibaud Reysset joined I2EN as Project Director in September 2024. He coordinates French training projects for countries interested in nuclear energy. Prior to this, he worked for 7 years at the IAEA where he was in charge of coordinating support for countries wanting to develop a new nuclear power program. Thibaud also worked for 6 years at Ineo Nucléaire, where he was in charge of the company's business development, project management of tools/methods, and took part in various calls for tender. He also gained experience in project management at CAPGEMINI ENGINEERING, and in research at GRS GmbH. He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from SUPMECA Paris, a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering from École Polytechnique de Montréal, and a Master's degree in Law, Economics and Management from the Institut d'Administration des Entreprises (IAE) d'Aix-Marseille.

With a degree in journalism, I have acquired solid skills in communication, analysis and information management. Passionate about history, I am deeply interested in the issues that shape our world. I decided to reorient my career towards organization and management, a field that allows me to reconcile my skills and interests. With five years' experience as an executive assistant, I have developed expertise in project management, task coordination and internal communication. At the Institut International de l'Énergie Nucléaire (I2EN), I put my know-how to work in a dynamic organization, supporting the development of skills in the nuclear sector. My career path illustrates my ability to adapt and evolve in technical and international environments.

With a Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Alice is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Economic Intelligence. A work-study student at the I2EN since October 2024, she is involved in monitoring the Institute's activities. Responsible for drawing up the catalog of accredited training courses in France, Alice also establishes a strategic watch on the evolution of energy policy in target countries. With her passion for geopolitics and the related energy issues, working at I2EN enables her to reconcile these interests with the nuclear industry.

Ghislain de Lammerville holds a double degree in Political Science and Humanities from Ircom in Angers. He is currently pursuing a Master 1 in Risks and Economic Intelligence at the École de Guerre Économique. Driven by a passion for nuclear-related sovereignty issues, he joined I2EN on a sandwich course in October 2024 to deepen his knowledge in this sector. Outside his professional career, he is interested in philosophy, literature, geopolitics and French politics.

Nathalie Zamaria

International Cooperation Manager

Nathalie Zamaria contributes to the development and deployment of international training programs, to the structuring of strategic partnerships and to supporting countries in building the skills and capabilities they need to implement their nuclear programs. An expert in international project management and compliance, she has almost ten years' experience within the United Nations system, including several years at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), where she worked on issues of international security, cooperation between States and capacity building. She has coordinated technical assistance projects and activities in several regions of Europe, Africa and Asia, and developed training programs and methodological tools for institutional players. With a Master's degree in international law, she completed her career with specialized training in international nuclear law (OECD/NEA and IAEA) and management (Harvard Business School), consolidating her expertise at the interface of international legal, institutional and strategic issues.

Roman Fernandez, a 4th-year engineering student specializing in artificial intelligence and data science, has been with I2EN for 4 months since April 2026. He is taking part in the development and structuring of the Institute's digital environment, contributing to projects linked to IT infrastructure, the organization of collaborative tools and the improvement of internal services. In particular, he is involved in setting up shared workspaces, managing access and usage, technical documentation, and optimizing the I2EN website in terms of user experience, content consistency and natural referencing. This internship will enable her to apply her technical skills in a practical setting, at the crossroads of information systems, digital technology and the continuous improvement of tools for the benefit of teams.

Nuclear engineering trainee

A final-year student at IMT Atlantique, Lode Lizon specializes in nuclear engineering, with a particular interest in modeling and project management. In his final year internship at I2EN since April 2026, he is developing a simulator designed to assess the skills and human resource requirements for the deployment of electronuclear programs. Based on IAEA guidelines and international feedback, this tool integrates various project parameters and includes a gap analysis between training needs and supply. His background includes research experience at the University of Helsinki on modeling nuclear interactions and radionuclide diffusion, as well as energy and economic optimization projects. He speaks several languages (French, English, German, Dutch) and is also involved in community work as a volunteer and first-aider with the Red Cross.
