The “Materials Science for Nuclear Energy” (MaNuEn) Master’s degree is an international program designed for students wishing to pursue a career in the nuclear industry, in R&D or in research organizations. This two-year program focuses on the specifics of materials used in a nuclear environment, mainly nuclear fuels and components, with particular emphasis on the durability of materials under irradiation. Delivered in English, the program explores in depth the properties of materials used in nuclear environments, such as nuclear fuels and components, with particular emphasis on their resilience under irradiation. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In the first year, participants take the international course at Grenoble INP’s Ecole d’Ing\u00e9nieure Phelma. Students of the Master of Science in Nuclear Energy – EMINE, who have completed their first year at KTH in Sweden or UPC in Spain, can also join the second year, which is shared with MaNuEn. The second-year program begins with a semester (September-January) dedicated to a common core and two specialized modules, \u201cFuels\u201d and \u201cComponents\u201d, held at CEA Cadarache and the International Institute for the Study of Aging of Materials, the MAI run by EDF R&D. The program is developed in collaboration with engineers from I2EN, EDF, Framatome and CEA. <\/p>

The final semester is devoted to a Master’s thesis lasting at least five months.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The Master’s program is co-accredited by INSTN(Institut National des Sciences et Techniques Nucl\u00e9aires<\/a>) and certified by I2EN for its second year. The program benefits from partnerships with the Material Ageing Institute, an international institute run by EDF, and the CEA, which offer internship opportunities in the second year. Close collaboration with engineers and researchers from EDF R&D, CEA-INSTN and Framatome – specialists in materials for the nuclear industry – will enable you to define your career goals. <\/p>

The international Master MaNuEn program prepares you to become either a nuclear engineer or an R&D researcher. As an engineer, you’ll gain expertise in fields ranging from innovative design and construction to operation, maintenance, the fuel cycle and materials ageing. As a researcher, often after a doctorate, you’ll have the opportunity to join renowned R&D centers involved in nuclear engineering or academic laboratories around the world. <\/p>
