ESIX Normandy

The Engineering School of the University of Caen Basse-Normandie, belongs to the University of Caen-Normandie, thus benefiting from a first class pedagogical and scientific environment. Its engineering programs enable it to maintain close relations with industry.
Esix Normandie has three campuses located in Caen, Saint Lô and Cherbourg.

NUCLEAR TRAINING AT ESIX Normandie

The engineering degree

Its three-year program trains future engineers to become familiar with industrial technologies, to be rapidly operational, and to be able to adapt to technological innovation thanks to their skills in science and project management. The study programs are developed in partnership with industrial companies such as AREVA, Naval Group, Andra, SALVAREM, SPIE Nucléaire and EAMEA, the School of Military Applications of Atomic Energy.

The Industrial Systems Engineering specialization, at the Cherbourg-Octeville campus, is a three-year program. The skills that students acquire during the program allow them to be involved in both technical and generalist activities, regardless of the processes in place in the company.

The nuclear operations option can be taken as initial or continuing education. It trains engineers to work at the heart of nuclear facilities through all the stages that will be part of their career, from construction to refurbishment, maintenance and decommissioning.

The program focuses on nuclear technology and aims to teach a true safety culture.

Research

ESIX Normandie’s research professors are required to conduct research at the University Laboratory of Applied Sciences in Cherbourg.

The Lusac is a multidisciplinary laboratory based in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin and composed of 3 teams: 

  • Energy efficiency and heat transfers;
  • Flows and environment;
  • Electrical energy storage and materials.

Lusac’s vocation is to develop fundamental and essentially applied research in the field of energy.
