ENSICAEN

THE ENSICAEN

The National Engineering School of Caen, prepares the engineers of tomorrow through a scientific and technical training of the first rank. Its quality is reinforced by the presence of a state-of-the-art research center with seven laboratories, six of which are jointly accredited with the CEA, the CNRS and the University of Caen-Normandy, and one with NXP France and Presto Engineering.

NUCLEAR TRAINING AT ENSICAEN

Lower Normandy is a region recognized for its expertise in nuclear energy and its medical applications. It is a key player in the Normandy nuclear cluster. In the region, there are about 14,000 people working in this sector.
ENSICAEN offers an engineering degree in Electronics and Applied Physics with the possibility of specializing in nuclear energy:

  • Nuclear and energy engineering course: its objective is to prepare future graduates for careers in the nuclear industry by teaching them knowledge and technical skills in the fields of design and operation of electronuclear facilities, reactor operation, neutronics, thermo-hydraulics, computer modeling, and safety. The program includes presentations by the main players in the nuclear industry (ORANO, EDF, CEA, ASSYSTEM, etc.) and site visits (La Hague reprocessing plant, nuclear facilities).

ENSICAEN is a member of the nuclear cluster for health and energy in Normandy, NUCLEOPOLIS.

RESEARCH

ENSICAEN is also an internationally recognized multidisciplinary research center. The fields of activity of its 7 mixed research units are nuclear physics, atomic, molecular and condensed matter physics, chemistry, materials, catalysis, organic chemistry, and information and communication technologies.
